Rosters & participants

Before swimmers can be entered, the meet needs to know which teams are competing and which roster each brings.
Add participants
Section titled “Add participants”On the meet setup, add each competing team as a participant. One team is the host (it owns award-label rules and, in dual/tri meets, the home lanes).
Bind a roster
Section titled “Bind a roster”Each participant is bound to a roster snapshot — the list of that team’s swimmers (name, age/birth date, USS#). Rosters are imported ahead of time from:
- SD3 (
POST /rosters/import-sd3) — the standard SDIF exchange file, or - CSV (per team), for clubs without an SD3 export.
Roster import merges into the current snapshot by default (upsert), so a partial file won’t wipe an existing roster. Use replace explicitly only when you intend to overwrite.
Age is computed, not stored per meet
Section titled “Age is computed, not stored per meet”A swimmer’s competition age is computed as of June 15 of the season, not the meet date — so the same roster seeds consistently across the season. Birth date on the roster is what matters.
With teams and rosters in place, move on to Entries & seeding.
