Create a meet
This content is not available in your language yet.
A meet is created from an event program — either a stored template or one of your league’s configured programs — plus a meet category and a pool (the venue, which fixes the number of lanes).
Two sources for the event program
Section titled “Two sources for the event program”- Template — a stored, reusable program (managed under Admin → Templates). A template can be league-linked or owned by a single team (e.g. a club’s hosted invitational).
- League program — a program defined inside your league’s rulebook (a “virtual template”). Pick a league on the form and its programs appear (choosing a program hides the template select).
Pick one or the other. Multi-day programs (e.g. a two-day championship) ask for a date per day.
- From the meet list, choose New meet. (Creating meets requires the meet-create permission on the league.)
- Set the name and date.
- Optionally pick your league — this attaches the league’s rulebook and offers its programs.
- Pick a program or a template.
- Pick the meet category — League, Invitational, Championship, or Time trials. It defaults from the chosen template/program, and it drives lane policy and which scoring table applies.
- Pick a pool (defaults to your first pool). The pool sets the lane count used by seeding and lane sheets.
- Optionally override the seeding mode and seed order for this meet.
- Create. The meet opens on its hub — tabs for Details (with events, rosters, entries, seeding, timer, and audit sections), Exports, Results, Clerk of course, and Run meet.
Category, dual/tri, and seeding mode
Section titled “Category, dual/tri, and seeding mode”Three related settings, three different jobs:
- Meet category (chosen, editable on the Details tab until the meet is seeded): League, Invitational, Championship, or Time trials. Drives lane policy and scoring-table selection.
- Dual vs. tri is derived, not chosen: a League meet with two teams scores as a dual, with three as a tri — live. Add or remove a team and the meet’s effective type follows; any other team count means no team scoring and center-out seeding (the app warns about a league meet with an unusual team count).
- Seeding mode (
Team lanes/Strict by time/Circlefor championship prelims) controls heat ordering, resolved through the cascade meet → template → the category’s config → league rulebook — and overridable per meet on this form.
Team lane assignments themselves are derived from the participants and host, then persisted per team and hand-editable on the Details tab.
Don’t forget the teams
Section titled “Don’t forget the teams”Creating a meet does not add the competing teams. Open the new meet’s Details tab to add each participant team and mark the host — see Rosters & participants. (Meets built through the league’s season schedule builder get their teams and host wired automatically.)
See Entries & seeding for what each seeding mode does, and Leagues & rules for where the policies come from.
