Scoring
This content is not available in your language yet.
Once events are finalized, the meet scores them into individual points and team standings using your league’s points table.
How scoring works
Section titled “How scoring works”- Each scored place earns points from the league’s points table — selected by the meet’s effective type (a league meet with two teams scores as a dual, with three as a tri; championships use their own table). A meet can carry a per-meet override of the table, set on its Details tab.
- Relays and IM score like any other event from their finalized result.
- Ties split the combined points evenly across the tied places. In a prelim/finals event, ties share a place only within a heat — equal times in different finals are different placings, and a vacant or DQ’d place in the A-final is not the consolation’s to take: each final owns its full block of places, so the consolation still starts below the A-final’s block.
- Exhibition swims take no place at all — the field is ranked as though they weren’t there — and they earn no points.
- Max-events violations are enforced at seeding time (seeding blocks until they’re resolved or explicitly overridden) — see Entries & seeding. If your league requires a post-hoc penalty for an over-entered swimmer, apply it by marking the affected swims exhibition before finalizing.
Viewing standings
Section titled “Viewing standings”The results screen shows both per-event scored results and the rolling team score. Re-finalizing or correcting an event re-scores automatically.
The live award board (championships)
Section titled “The live award board (championships)”The scoreboard — a drawer on the run screen (trophy icon) and its own page
at /meets/<id>/scoreboard (sign-in required) — computes the league’s award
page live, section for section:
- Standings, sortable on every column: points, last year’s points, both improvement measures, medal averages — with a progress line showing how many events are scored so far.
- Most Improved Team and Most Improved Without Relays, with each award’s eligibility rules applied (ineligible teams are marked).
- Most Outstanding Swimmer and Most Outstanding Relay, ranked against the standing records per the league’s ladder.
- Age-group high point, youngest first, with a top-3/5/10 depth switch.
- Records equalled or broken so far.
- Team Sportsmanship — the one section the desk writes: the meet committee names the winner and the desk records it.
Baselines against past seasons are recomputed from places with the current points table (stored historical points truncate tie fractions), and a past championship can be compared over just the events swum so far.
